Puzzled by DPM's stand on PPSMI
Contained in these two core subjects through English, its lingua franca.There is a vast difference between the two. Fortunately, the Prime Minister understands it. Yet the DPM himself was present at the cabinet meeting in 2002 when it was agreed and decided that PPSMI was to be introduced and implemented the following year.
I wonder if cabinet ministers know what they agree to sometimes.
I’m perplexed that to this day the DPM still thinks that it is a language issue and not an issue of acquiring scientific, technological and mathematical knowledge to ensure global competitiveness.
With the reversal of PPSMI, scientific English is now lost and is instead replaced with conversational English. If upholding the dignity of the national language is the responsibility of every single Malaysian, then close all types of schools that shirk this important role and prohibit all Malaysians from attending international schools.

The Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah make up more than half of the island of Borneo. They are famous for their ancient rainforests and wildlife, not to mention their world-renown beaches. Experience of teacher training/development, line management or coaching/mentoring is desirable. You must be a highly proficient speaker of English and you must have a first degree or equivalent. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of two years from your start date. The bureaucracy is such that you have to enter the country as a tourist on a 1 or 3 month tourist visa (depending on your nationality), during which time your work permit will be applied for. Malaysian law states that you must be 27 years old or older and have a first degree to obtain a work permit. The contract is conditional on approval of the work permit. They have all been approved to date. Although benefits are provided for teachers who have spouses or children please note that opportunities for partners to find work are extremely limited.
