Your Computer Friends hosts electronic recycling event
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Your Computer Friends in Wilmington has teamed up with PODS Moving and Storage to collect old or unwanted electronics throughout the week so they can be properly recycled.
You can toss PCs, printers, phones, cell phones, batteries, cables, fax machines and copiers at no charge. CRT monitors are also being accepted, but require a $9 recycling charge. Televisions won't be accepted during this event.
You can drop off your electronics until Friday, May 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Your Computer Friends on Oleander Drive.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Area residents can help the environment by picking up a tree seedling this weekend in the JC Penny wing of Independence Mall in Wilmington.
Each year thousands of trees are lost to disease, development, and storm events. TreeFest is an annual distribution of tree seedlings to help replace the ones that are lost.
Trees help improve air and water quality, lower energy costs, and remove carbon dioxide from the air.
Local residents can pick up 5 tree seedlings to take home and plant on their property. A suggested donation of $3 per household will help ensure that TreeFest will return next year, as it is funded by donations received.
Over 10,000 tree seedlings will be available this year. Tree species include: Bald cypress, Black gum, Black walnut, Cherrybark oak, Chinese chestnut, Eastern redbud, Flowering dogwood, Live oak, Longleaf pine, Overcup oak, Persimmon, Pond pine, Redbay, River birch, Southern crabapple, Southern red oak, Swamp chestnut oak, White oak and Willow oak.
The distribution will be held:
Fri., Jan. 22 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sat. Jan. 23 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (or until trees run out)There will be experts on hand to help you decide which tree will work best for your site, as well as how to take care of your tree.
