What is the cost of LASIK eye surgery | Janakantha Blog
Guided LASIK uses wavefront technology to customize wavefront precision surgery on the eyes. Traditional LASIK corrective lenses and can correct common vision problems including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism, but can not solve other problems with the quality of vision. The higher-order aberrations can cause vision problems like halos, glare, decreased contrast sensitivity and shadows. These problems usually do not affect visual acuity (how to test eye chart) but affect the quality of what you see in real life. The higher-order aberrations may actually be exacerbated by the traditional LASIK surgery. What are higher-order aberrations? As they relate to your vision, are infinitesimal imperfections which create minimal changes to light rays that pass through your eye. These minor changes in the rays of light affect the quality of your vision (even with glasses or contact lenses), but probably not even aware of the difference. In fact, the impact on your vision may be so mild they do not even appear in a vision test. Despite these imperfections are minute, eliminating the guided LASIK wavefront will make your vision after LASIK as clear and crisp that you will be amazed at the difference. Many people who have guided LASIK wavefront can look even better after surgery than they could with glasses or contacts before the procedure. Ablation, wavefront-guided uses the same technology that was used to adjust the high-powered telescopes for years. During a Scan-wavelength light is sent into the eye and then measured after passing through the visual system. The result is a 3-D map, called a printing wave aberrations and pointing is accurate to hundredths of a diopter. The map is used to guide the surgery accurately. Previous methods were only accurate to within 0.25 diopter steps. The higher-order aberrations can be detected only during a wavefront evaluation. Myopia and hyperopia (spherical aberrations) and astigmatism (cylinder aberration) are low-order aberrations. Can be safely corrected with traditional refractive surgery. Not all patients are good candidates for wavefront. In some cases wavefront ablations are deeper than traditional refractive surgery, so people with thin corneas may not be eligible. Any type of refractive surgery can increase higher-order aberrations. This is why some patients see halos or loss of contrast sensitivity after refractive surgery. Wavefront-guided LASIK has a much lower risk of creating higher-order aberrations. In fact, the main advantage of wavefront-guided LASIK wavefront guided refractive surgery is more expensive than traditional refractive surgery and has many benefits, including: u0026 middot; more likely to achieve 20/20 vision or better (in fact, many patients with wavefront-guided LASIK end up with better vision than 20/20) . Less chance of losing best corrected vision . Less likely to lose sight of quality must be at least the diagnosis of wavefront before undergoing any type of refractive surgery, so you know what the risks and what to expect.
